Peer Damminger

Born in 1965 in Kirchheimbolanden, raised in Frankenthal/Pfalz.

Has been developing theater projects since 1984. After studying theater sciences in Erlangen and Gießen, together with Bärbel Maier, René Pollesch, and Claus Tantzen, he co-founded the Theater Montage and the Children and Youth Theater KiTZ.
Has been working professionally as a director, actor, and set designer since 1989. A recipient of various grants and awards from international theater festivals. Since 1995, he has been working as part of the independent ensemble "KiTZ Theaterkumpanei" in Ludwigshafen.
Since a first guest performance in Iran in 2007, there has been an intense exchange with Iranian theater makers, including joint bilingual productions, extensive guest performances in Iran, and roles as a lecturer for various institutes in Tehran, Esfahan, and Qom.
His interactive performance "ZAADGAH - Homeland in the Mind" was commissioned for the international festival "Schwindelfrei" in Mannheim in 2014.
In his cultural-political involvement, he initiated the founding of the Association of Free Professional Theaters of Rhineland-Palatinate (laprofth) in 1992. For over four years he served as one of the spokespersons for the 'AK Südwest' of ASSITEJ and, in this capacity, he developed and organized the first "kopfüber" festival – the meeting of theaters for young audiences in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Awards:

1996: Foundation Prize for the Promotion of Art in the Pfalz for outstanding achievements in the field of theater.
1998: Recipient of the Antonie-Besler Foundation Prize, Ludwigshafen.
2007: Theater Prize at the 14th Isfahan International Festival for Children and Young Adults in Iran for "Albin und Lila" (direction and acting).
2008: "Children's Theater of the Month" in North Rhine-Westphalia with "Albin und Lila" (direction and acting).
2010: Theater Prize at the 17th Hamedan International Festival for Children and Young Adults in Iran for "Sultan und Kotzbrocken" for "Best Direction."
2014: Special Prize from the Youth Jury for Best Youth Theater Piece, Penguin's Day Festival Moers for "Clockwork Orange."
